The English Riviera With 22 miles of coastline and 24 beaches, the Riviera is one resort split into 3 distinct holiday destinations all easily reached from Exeter. Torquay is a cosmopolitan popular seaside town with a lively harbor offering plenty of shopping, bar and restaurant options, together with a selection of fun attractions for all ages. The town is also famous for its Agatha Christie connections and one particular hotel which was to become the inspiration for the hit TV comedy, Faulty Towers (Now a boutique hotel called the Gleneagles). Paignton boasts some fantastic beaches, whilst Brixham is one of Britain's most picturesque harbors surrounded by brightly painted cottages set along narrow, winding streets.
Exmoor National Park Exmoor is heady mixtures of stunning landscapes - wild uplands, wooded valleys ancient villages and stretches of dizzying coastal cliff walks. Ideal for outdoors types in the mood for some walking, riding and mountain biking or perhaps taking to the rivers for a spot of fly-fishing or canoeing.
Dartmoor National Park Famous for having more archaeological sites than anywhere else in North Western Europe, Dartmoor also offers vast area of untamed beauty, nature reserves, endangered birds and rare plant species and the local park authority offers a number of events and guided walks for visitors throughout the year.
Topsham Small delightful harbor town just 4 miles from Exeter, Topsham retains many of its original buildings housing a charming selection of craft and antique shops and a good choice of seafood restaurants.
